Fast Demould Pipe-Jointing Foam System
The traditional open-cell pipe-jointing material, Cellafoam 161/10, has been recently modified to decrease the cure time of the foam. Consequently, the production rate of pipe-laying operations can be significantly improved with the new material from IFS Chemicals. The image above shows the use of this material on a concrete-coated, gas-carrying pipeline in Brazil. The off-shore installation involved the use of 140 tonnes of modified Cellafoam 161/10, allowing the pipe-laying contractors to cut the installation time by an estimated 20%. This two-component foam system runs at equal volume proportions through a Graco dispensing machine and is now the preferred material of choice for his application.
